Full-time Scores: Valiant FC 1 – 4 Beyond Limits FA

After rounding things off last year with qualification for the knockout phase of TCC Cup, reigning league champions, Beyond Limits, started the year with an away game at Valiant.

For Coach Olumide’s side, the first game of the year was the best time to make an impression as league leaders. For the home side, on the other hand, this was a chance to show that they could catch Valiant this season after finishing second last season.

It didn’t take long for Beyond Limits to stamp their authority on the game. In the second minute, Onyebuchi Obasi stepped up and converted the free kick awarded in a promising area. One would become two as Morufdeen Moshood double his side’s lead after connecting well with a square pass from Obasi.

Left chasing the game, the home side put up a valiant display, asking questions of the visitor’s defense. And they’ll get rewarded for their efforts in the 39th minute. Not satisfied with two, Beyond Limits restored their two-goal lead in the 41st minute when Ayomide Ogungbile converted form a corner-kick.

The second half began just like the first half – with both sides trying to create goal scoring chances. Unlike the goals scored in the first, the second half was a half of cards, with three players – 2 from Valiant and 1 from Beyond Limits – getting cautioned.

Having had center-back Anyannwu Franklin sent off in the 66th minute, the visitors took advantage of the situation, with Akinyemi Hammed scoring the fourth goal with a beautiful header.

It’s a great start for the defending champions as Valiant hit rock-bottom with their loss.
