Emmydinho and Dannaz couldn’t be separated in their TCC Cup game on Sunday, as the encounter ended 1-1.
After last season’s disappointment, Emmydinho opted for a change in personnel both on and off the pitch and were up against newcomers Dannaz FC, who were also hoping to start their life in the TCC Cup on a winning note.
But it was Dannaz who were very much on top of the game. First to every ball, dominating the ball possession and forced Emmydinho to sit back in their own half.
Goalkeeper Vincent Chisom kept making save after save for Emmydinho, to keep the newbies at bay as the half ended in a stalemate.
Shortly after the break, Emmydinho shot into the lead against the run of play through Brain Carlos’ well taken finish.
Coach Fatai Akande’s boys doubled their efforts in search of the equaliser. Each time they manage to beat the defence, Chisom pulled off marvelous stops to keep his side in the lead.
Emmydinho also had chances in the second half to double their lead but Ganiu Kasali denied the home side. Meanwhile, it became end-to-end stuff at the Remo Stars stadium in the final 20mins of the game.
With two minutes left to go, the Cedars worked the ball into Emmydinho’s defensive half and a quick exchange of passes between Emmanuel Precious and Amodu Musa ended with the latter, firing an unstoppable shot beyond the reach of Chisom.
No further goals, as the game ended in a stalemate.
Man of the Match
Vincent Chisom (Emmydinho FC)
The goalkeeper deservedly took home the MOTM award. He was simply magnificent between the sticks for the home side.
