Impressive Imperial put four past Sporting Lagos

Imperial showed no mercy as they put Sporting Lagos to the sword in a six-goal thriller.

Coach Adedeji’s side, despite being the visitors, took the lead as early as seventh minute, with Maleek Olatunji rising highest to nod the ball home for the opening goal.

In ruthless fashion, their doubled their lead in the 13th minute as Joel Ashuku found space behind the Sporting Lagos defense to power home Imperial’s second. What started as Imperial’s half however took a twist in the 22nd minute as Sporting Lagos won themselves a penalty.

Yusuf Abdullahi stepped up to the spot and converted to half their deficit.

The goal served as a morale booster for Coach Shola’s side who found their style of play and earned their fair share of the ball possession during the period after the goal.

The second half however started the same way the first did: Imperial on top of the game and getting the half’s first goal. This time, it was Musa Maleek who was on hand to take advantage of the melee in the 18-yard area, nodding the ball home from close range. Three became four in the 64th minute as the visitors showed Sporting Lagos who’s boss.

Although the Lagosians eventually pulled one back, it wasn’t enough to start a comeback. For Imperial, it’s another impressive win featuring multiple goals. For Sporting Lagos, it may be the perfect time to start worrying as they’re now three without a win.
