Gbagada grabbed their first home win of the season as they scored the odd goal in a five-goal thriller against Atlantic Business.
The Blue Eagles showed that they meant business, getting their first goal in the 11th minute. Semiu Fagbayi, who had a stellar November, found space to run into and head home from close range to put Coach Akinyelu’s team in the lead.
Undeterred, the visitors remained defiant with their play, pushing for an equalizer. They would get one in the 27th minute as Richard Ebiware pulled his team level. Invigorated by the equalizer, Coach Charles’ boys raced into the lead seven minutes later as Chinedu Umeh was well positioned to poke the ball home.
Staring defeat in the face, Coach started the second half with a few changes. His tactical moves paid off in the 59th minute as Eniola won a penalty for the hosts. Alfred stepped up to the plate and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
With both sides level, Gbagada gained ascendancy in tempo of play, pushing to regain the lead. Eniola Akanni, who had been exceptional all game long, first hit the crossbar (In the 71st minute) before going on to restore his side’s lead in the 78th, with a finely placed header.
Gbagada held on for a win, recording their second win of the season.
