Shogbaike Winner Earns VOE FA First Win of the Season

VOE FA got their month to the best possible start with a 3-2 victory against Dino SC.

Seeking their first win of the season, the hosts came into the game as the underdog. But 18 minutes later, they raced into the lead. Shogbaike Oluwasegun’s well-weighted pass across goal found Zubairu Yazid who fired home from the near post.

With the wind in their sails, the hosts extended their lead three minutes later. Mathias Saviour’s line-breaking pass was perfect for Zubairu, whose attempt rolled past a scrambling Godstime Sunday before rolling into an empty net.

VOE’s smooth-sailing adventure however hit its first wave in the 32nd minute. Chikee Chinedu’s attempt was intercepted by Micheal Peter who scored to half VOE’s deficit. Sensing the momentum shift, Coach Godwin’s boys pressed for an equalizer.

First, it was a Dino header hitting the woodwork. Then came the leveller, an Emmanuel Joshua own goal, which saw the ball inadvertently diverted into the goal after a Samuel Obudu cross. But VOE would make this one count in the end as they had the final say with minutes on the clock.

Godstime Sunday was again in the mix of things. This time, the goalkeeper was guilty of fouling Olutosin Samad in the area. After a DAR review, the hosts won a penalty, which Shogbaike converted, sealing VOE’s first win of the season.
