Imperial jump to summit of the table with slim win over Valiant

Imperial fought off Valiant’s resilience to get a win and move to the top of the table.

The hosts started out the game knowing that a win can temporarily send them to the top with Sporting Lagos yet to play. And they started out in fine fashion, creating chance after chance.

They were however frustrated by Valiant’s defensive set-up, one which gave very little away. Both sides matched each other in the first half, as they kept each other at bay.

In the second half however, Imperial found the back of the net to gain the lead. Valiant, now behind, tried all they could to draw level but it was too little too late. For a fourth time this season, Coach Owolabi’s side bowed to defeat, a worrying trend for the Brave Boys.

For Coach Adedeji, he will be hoping his side can remain at the top by maintaining their fine form.
