Broad City return to winning ways, compound Dannaz woes

It was a walk in the park for Broad City as they steamrolled over Dannaz for their fifth win of the season.

Fresh from their pounding against Imperial, Broad City started things off with intensity. Theirs was however equally matched with one from a desperate Dannaz side still searching for its first win of the season.

For all of the vigour from both sides, there was nothing to show in the first half. With a lot of action in midfield, the goalies had little next to nothing to do.

In the second half however, the game came to life as Broad City pressed harder. The Dannaz defense that had held its own well caved in under pressure in the 69th minute.

After a well-worked build-up of play from the back, Bakare Ayomide found space behind the defense to run into. Drawing Ganiu Olusesi out of his goal, he squared the ball to an onrushing Sanusi Hanif.

Both players involved in the goal had been brought on in the second half, a testament to Coach Ogunmoyero’s tactical ingenuity. His lads, not satisfied with one goal, went for another, and increased their lead nine minutes later.

After intercepting a Dannaz ball in the midfield, the ball was sent towards Hanif just outside the 18-yard area. With a deft touch, he controlled the ball, created space between himself and the closest defender and hit a fierce shot that went over the goalkeeper and into the net.

They would go on to win the game as Dannaz fell flat on their faces.
