REPORT: MD8 – Beyond Limits 2 – 3 Gbagada

Gbagada Soar to the Top with Beyond Limits Win

Gbagada defeated Beyond Limits 3-2, serving another unforgettable edition of the championship classic.

The feisty contest saw both sides throw their all at each other early in the game. Akpabio came close to breaking the deadlock in the 17th minute. But Bassey, from close range, was up to the task. Two minutes later, it was Memud’s turn. But he flashed his attempt wide.

The hosts were made to rue those missed chances as Gbagada broke the deadlock a minute later. Adeniran Habeeb poached the ball off a defender before firing home to put his side in front. Coach Akinyelu’s boys doubled their lead four minutes later as they continued to pile up the pressure on their hosts.

In the 26th minute, it was Beyond Limits’ turn to score in what was a topsy-turvy affair. Saka Yusuf’s low cross was met by a powerful strike from Peter Oyeniran, who converted to half the deficit. Before the fans could catch their breath from all the excitement, Peter scored again, bagging his brace in six minutes, and drawing the hosts level in an unforgettable 1st half.

The 2nd half began like the 1st, with Beyond Limits threatening to score first. But again, Bassey was on hand to deny them.

The visitors would have the final say in the final third of the game, with Gome Namene sealing it for Coach Akinyelu’s side. Despite the late DAR calls in the game that kept Gbagada on the edge, the Blue Eagles came out on top, earning a win that now sees them move to the top of the standings.
