Desperate Dannaz forced to share points with Gbagada

Gbagada failed to get the better of Dannaz as both sides settled for a point apiece.

The contest started quietly, with both sides taking a cautious approach to the game. The hosts however threw caution to the wind in the 27 minute when Fabayi had a chance to head the ball home from close range. He instead sent the ball over the bar after some great work by Gbadamosi.

Seven minutes later, Gbagada opened their account through Semiu Fagbayi.

Receiving the ball just outside the area, Semiu created space for himself and let fly. His shot evaded the goalkeeper to put the Blue Eagles ahead. But their lead didn’t last long.

Dannaz grew into the game despite conceding and pressed for their equalizer. They got an opportunity just around the 18-yard area as the ref awarded a free-kick. Although Lukman Babalola got a hand to it, Oluwadamilare Eniola’s shot was too powerful as the goalie parried it into the net.

The second started with Dannaz on top, searching for their second. Babalola was however on hand to thwart their goal threats. Against the run of play, Semiu got his second, in the 60th minute, as he waltzed into the box with the ball and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Instead of giving up, Dannaz continued asking questions of Gbagada’s defense. And they drew level thanks to a Joshua Obakimi strike from outside the box that left Babalola flat-footed.

There was no fifth goal as the referee called time on the game. And while it’s another point for the hosts, it means there’s plenty for Dannaz to worry about as their first win of the season remains elusive.
