Sporting Lagos needed two late goals to shove Valiant aside and record their third away victory of the season.
The Lagosians started the game on the front foot, keeping their opponents on the defensive. They went on to break the deadlock in the 37th minute, with Fuad Ojediran lashing a half volley into the bottom right corner of the goal.
The second goal of the game didn’t come until the second half. And it was scored by the hosts, who drew level in the 65th minute. A failed clearance fell to Olaniyan Gafar in enemy territory. The winger wasted no time in releasing a ferocious shot that evaded everyone on its way into the net.
At this point in the game, the new manager bounce seemed to be well in operation for the hosts. But their guests had other ideas.
As the game entered its final 10 minutes, Linus Zika outpaced his marker before threading a cross into the 18-yard area. At this point, nothing could stop an unmarked and onrushing Fuad Ojediran from grabbing his brace as neatly tucked home from close range. Two minutes later, the Lagosians added a third, thanks to Faisal, and sealed their win to remain top of the log.
