Imperial elongated Dannaz’s search for a win as they defeated the visitors 2-1.
Stuck in bottom, Coach Fatai’s entourage came seeking a win to boost morale… And climb up the log. They started the game with vigor and got the game’s first goal in the 20th minute as Joshua Obakimi opened the scoring.
A shaky Dannaz defense maintained its composure as they dealt with all that Imperial threw at them. For the first time in a long while, the visitors finished the first half without conceding.
The second half began the same way the first ended: With Dannaz defending and Imperial pressing for an equalizer. The chances were few and far in-between. However, both sides proved themselves well: Dannaz in maintaining a lead for so long and Imperial in testing the visitors’ resolve to get a first win this season.
Dannaz’s struggle to keep a clean sheet this season is well-documented. And that ugly dragon again reared its ugly head two minutes from time after as Imperial got their first of the game through Joel.
Smelling blood, Imperial pressed for the kill and were rewarded with a penalty. Eric, in the 93rd minute, stepped up and calmly converted the spot kick to break Dannaz’s hearts. The win pushes Imperial closer to the top of the table while Dannaz remain rooted to the bottom of the table
