Spoils Shared in Battle of the Back-benchers

Broad City and VOE FA settled for a point apiece in a game that detailed how both sides have struggled in front of goal this season.

The first big chance of the game fell to Ogruma Gideon in the opening minutes of the clash. The striker, after finding space behind enemy lines, was however unable to control the ball and, at the end, fired his attempt into the stands. The visitors grew in confidence as the game progressed, dominating the midfield and taking the sting out of their hosts.

Both sides however failed to find the back of the net at the end of the 1st half.

The second 45 began with Broad City on the front foot, quizzing the VOE defense. And they drew first blood 14 minutes in as Godswill Edem chipped one over Kazeem Basit after his relentless run unsettled the opposition defense. The lead, however, lasted only 13 minutes, as VOE FA drew level.

An off-the-ball incident in the 18-yard area was reviewed, with the referee calling a foul and awarding the visitors a penalty. Shogbaike Oluwasegun stepped up to the spot and pulled one back for his side.

The game remained level until the final whistle, with both sides settling for a point apiece.
