Sporting Lagos Academy beat Gbagada to continue fine start to the new season

Sporting Lagos continued their fine start to the 2023/24 TCC League campaign with a routine 2-0 win over Gbagada in Ikenne on Saturday.

The Lagosians, who have chosen Ikenne as their home ground this season, dug deep to beat the Blue Eagles at home to extend their fine start to the season.

The coach Shola Adegun-led boys defeated league champions Beyond Limits last week and were able to take down the 2021 TCC Cup champions on match day four.

After a goalless first half, Sporting Lagos went in front through Ugochukwu Emmanuel in the 49th minute, and Yusuf Abdulahi converted from the spot just after the hour mark to double his side’s advantage.

Gbagada had no answers to that period of dominance from the hosts and they were handed a third defeat from their opening four games of the season.

The full-back was a menace down the right for the hosts. He was everywhere and contributed to the game immensely.
