Iganmu Stumble as Atlantic Business Pick First Win of the Season

Iganmu slumped to a first defeat of the season after a 1-0 loss to Atlantic Business.

The visitors, searching for a first win of the season, registered their first attempt in the 4th minute. Aboubacar’s attempt was however too high as the ball sailed over the bar. Three minutes later, Uche Kizito was called into action with an Iganmu free-kick attempt but the goalkeeper saved the ball easily.

11 minutes from half-time, Atlantic Business came close to breaking the deadlock. Joshua Owurie’s free-kick sailed over the wall but could only ricochet off the wood-work before being cleared by the Iganmu defense. The long-awaited breakthrough would come three minutes into the 2nd half as the visitors broke down the Tigers defense with a well-worked team move.

Tantolorun Adesanya’s side-footed pass found Olanrewaju Micheal in space down the flanks. The winger dribbled his way past his marker before releasing a short pass which Joshua Owurie finished off with aplomb.

The dramatic start to the 2nd half took another plot twist three minutes later as Iganmu pushed for an equalizer. Kizito was however on hand to keep the Tigers at bay and keep his side in front. 11 minutes from time, Atlantic Business had the chance to double their lead. However, second-half substitute, Kolawole Odulaja, saw his attempt bounce off the woodwork as the visitors came agonizingly close again.

Despite seeing two goals chalked off, Atlantic Business held on to secure their first win of the season.
