Sporting Lagos bounced back to winning ways in style as they outfought Atlantic Business on their way to a first away win of the season.
After a quiet start, the Lagosians broke the deadlock in the 37th minute as John Lucky scored for Adegun Shola’s side (again). The center-forward raced past his marker, wiggled his way into the 18-yard area and poked the ball between Wasiu Ibrahim’s leg to put the Lagosians in front.
Atlantic Business, not to be left behind, grabbed their equalizer two minutes into the second half. Chinedu Umeh found space and time in enemy territory to power his header past Gaffar Ahmed in goal.
But Sporting Lagos would go on to have the final say as Abubakar Yusuf scored the winning goal in the 71st minute. The winger, who came on in the 70th minute, was on hand to tap home from a rebound after Wasiu Ibrahim failed to deal with a freekick.
Sporting Lagos withstood their visitors’ onslaught to secure their second win of the season.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Alimi Farouk (Sporting Lagos)
Very little got past the defensive midfielder whose presence added steel to Sporting Lagos’ defense and whose passes occasionally put the opposition’s defense in disarray.
