Sporting Lagos stayed in the hunt for a third place finish with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Gbagada.
The first 20 minutes featured each side containing the other as the chances were far and in between. The deadlock was however broken in the 21st minute by Faruk Alimi. His free-kick from almost 30 yards out took a wicked deflection before flying into the net.
Seven minutes from half-time, Alabi Egbedokun finished off a counter-attacking play to extend the visitors’ lead. He would score again just before half time, heaping pressure on the Blue Eagles.
Coach Akinyelu’s side tried all they could to pull one back in the 2nd half. They however failed to find a breakthrough, and instead, conceded a fourth five minutes from time to suffer their biggest defeat of the season.
