Real Sapphire defeated Sporting Lagos Academy 3-1 in their match-day two clash played at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode on Sunday.
Real Sapphire made their debut in the TCC last week when they played a 1-1 draw against Valiant despite playing over one hour with 10 men. However, they made their home advantage count in their second game to inflict a first loss on the Sporting Lagos side.
Emmanuel Flomo headed the home side into the lead in the opening quarter before Sporting Lagos, who had wasted several chances, eventually found themselves level through skipper Odinaka Okoro after the half-hour mark.
It was even at the half-time break and upon the resumption of hostilities, the home side took it to another level to edge the Lagosians.
Ibrahim Adamu stabbed home from inside the area after Sporting keeper Ebenezer Port-Harcourt saved substitute Omoregbe Osemwengie’s attempt in the 74th minute.
Deep into stoppage time, Real Sapphire then made the points safe with their third goal of the game from Adamu – who completed his brace – after some excellent build-up play.
Meanwhile, they went on to finish the game with 10 men as Musa Akinfenwa was sent off but that did not stop them from picking up their first win of their TCC league campaign.
