Sporting Lagos extended their unbeaten run to three games with a 2-1 win over Imperial.
The hosts went in front 11 minutes after kick-off, thanks to Faisal Salisu. The lad’s run was found out with a fine pass from the captain before poking the ball calmly before the goalkeeper. That goal was not by happenstance. It was the culmination of pressure the home side mounted from the blast of the whistle.
Not satisfied with the early lead, Sporting Lagos pressed for a second and extended their lead in the 32nd minute. Faisal Umar made a dashing run down the left wing before squaring the ball for Linus Zika to finish things off.
Imperial, for their poor run of form in recent games, weren’t quick to either anticipate threats from their hosts or even threaten to score. Their 2nd half performance, which was better than the first, earned them an 87th minute goal. However, it was too little too late as Sporting Lagos made it back-to-back home games without defeat.
