Real Sapphire Leave it Late to Continue Winning Streak

Real Sapphire continued their fine run of form with a triumph over Gbagada.

Things started off easily for the guests, as they scored the opener in the seventh minute. Musa Akinfenwa was on hand to finish off a spell of ball possession as they raced into the lead. But their lead lasted only two minutes as Kelechi Nwosu tapped in from a corner-kick.

14 minutes in, the game already had its third goal, this time, a rocket from outside the box by Darius Garmondeh. Just before the half-hour mark, the Blue Eagles drew level again through Semiu Fagbayi’s shot, which found the bottom left corner of the net.

Not satisfied with taking a draw into the break, Gbagada scored a third in the 42nd minute. Rilwan Gbagadamosi raced past his marker before cutting back for an unmarked Olanrewaju Tanimowo who calmly put the ball past Sunday Ali in goal. It was the first time Coach Akinyelu’s men took the lead in the game.

The visitors started the second half the better team, heaping pressure on the hosts. All their hard work paid off in the 65th minute as Joshua Ibrahim’s close range header found the top right-hand corner of Lukman Babalola’s goal.

Twenty minutes later, Coach Abidemi’s substitution paid off, as Abdulmajid Bawa came on to score the winner. It’s an unforgettable win that helps Real Sapphire stay in touch with the log leaders.
