Iganmu Tiger 1 - 2 Real Sapphire

25th May, 2024

Impressive Real Sapphire Record Third Successive Away Win

Real Sapphire needed a late goal to not only get the better of Iganmu but also climb into fourth place.

The league newbies were quick to remind everyone about their prowess, breaking the deadlock in the 18th minute. Abidemi Olalekan was fouled on the edge of the area as Iganmu struggled to clear their lines. The winger shook off the pain, stepped up and sent the freekick through the Iganmu wall and past Osholenge in goal.

The rest of the half would be filled with missed chances as the visitors maintained their lead going into the break.

Iganmu started the second half the better side, making better passes and creating better chances. Coach Onalapo’s pep talk during the break looked to have sparked something in the boys. But they still had to wait till the 79th minute to celebrate their goal.

Captain Bamidele was brought down in the 18-yard area as the visitors failed to clear their lines. Ibrahim Ogede stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to draw his side level. The Tigers celebrated, but Real Sapphire had other ideas.

Seven minutes from time, second-half substitute Nurudeen Adebosun got himself on the scoresheet, ramming home a header from close range after losing his marker. Coach Alade’s boys would go onto keep the hosts at bay till the final whistle, earning another precious three points.
