Imperial ensured the league leaders remained within touching distance with a win over Dannaz.
But it wasn’t a rosy start for the visitors. They kicked things off on a nervy note, looking like a shadow of themselves, a side about to drop out of the title race.
All of that however changed in the 24th minute as Chidera Ezeno struck the ball hard just inside the box and found the bottom corner of Aderibigbe Dare’s goal. With the opening goal, the game came alive as the hosts pressed for an equalizer.
Dannaz’s hard work paid off 10 minutes later as a routine training ground move was finished off by Waheed Taofeek who sent the ball into the roof of the net. Both sides would go on to cancel out each other for the rest of the half.
The second 45 started with Imperial putting their pedal to the metal. The Dannaz defense remained resolute until the 77th minute when a fine cross into the box found Samuel Abisuga. Unmarked, the winger calmly controlled the ball before slotting it past the keeper for the winner.
With this win, Imperial’s title dreams are alive. But the same can’t be said about Dannaz whose downward spiral continues, now landing them in 10th.
