Tigers take Blue Eagles to the Cleaners with Rare Win

Iganmu picked up their second win of the season in style as they pushed their way past Gbagada in a five-goal thriller.

Coach Akinyelu’s men entered the game on the back of two consecutive losses. And started the game in the worst possible fashion, conceding in the 10th minute. Shadrach’s run behind the defense saw him get into a one-on-one situation with Lukman Babalola in goal. The winger wasted no time in slotting the ball beneath his opposition’s arms to open the scoring.

A minute later, the visitors won a penalty but failed to convert as Ibrahim Ogede’s spot-kick was well saved.

Few minutes later, the hosts shook off the early pressure to draw level. 17 minutes in, Semiu Fagbayi rose highest to nod the ball home from close range. Undeterred, the visitors raced back into the lead five minutes from time as Shadrach got his double.

An eventful first half was followed by a dramatic second half.

Lukaman was first on the script as he got his marching orders in the first minute of the half! Coach Akinyelu’s men would go on to hold their own and even equalize 16 minutes from the incident. Eniola Akanni was on hand to make the most of a two-on-one situation, dancing his way past Boufini Rex before letting one fly into the net.

But it was Iganmu who would have the last say. And it came in the 89th minute.

A disorganized defense failed to effectively mark Ibrahim Ogede. The striker would go on to turn his marker, release a wicked right-footed shot and steal the game at the death.

For Iganmu, they move off the foot of the table, replaced by Escola. For the hosts, it’s their second consecutive loss at home, their third in the league. Definitely worrying times for the Blue Eagles.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Ibrahim Ogede (Iganmu)

The striker was more than a handful for the Gbagada defense. His goal at the end was cherry on top of what was an impressive display.
