Sporting Lagos Play Catch-up with Imperial, Reduce Gap to One Point

Sporting Lagos moved to within one point of Imperial with a 2-1 triumph over the hosts.

Both sides entered the clash just a month after their draw in the league cup. Imperial came into the game holding bragging rights after a 4-2 win in their first league meeting of the season.

Knowing what was at stake, Sporting Lagos refused to succumb to the pressure and took the game to their hosts. Even though they had nothing to show for it in the first half, the Lagosians did not relent and got their breakthrough in the second half.

Not only did they get their goal. They were also able to stave off a late Imperial comeback as they took all three points back to Lagos.
