Iganmu’s poor league run continued this weekend as they slumped to a 5-2 defeat against Imperial.
The visitors were merciless as they went in front in the 11th minute. An on-rushing Linus Victor poked the ball into the bottom right corner as Iganmu players were caught flat-footed. Iganmu, determined to get something from the game, pulled one back from the spot as Kola Mohammed converted in the 26th minute.
But just before the 30th minute mark, Imperial were in front again, with Blessing Ejimole getting on the scoresheet.
Both sides started the second half as they did the first, with Imperial scoring first. Bashir AbdulKareem bullied his way past his marker before lobbing the goalkeeper and extending Imperial’s lead in the 57th minute.
Four minutes later, Bashir got his brace and Imperial’s fourth, tapping in from inside the six-yard area. 10 minutes after the half’s first goal, Yakub’s blast made it through a group of bodies before rattling the onion bag for Imperial’s fifth.
And although Kola got his brace 10 minutes from time, it wasn’t enough as Iganmu stayed rooted to the bottom of the log while Imperial moved one point closer to seventh.
