Sweet revenge for Sporting Lagos as they register first league win in two months

Sporting Lagos resumed league duties with a slender 1-0 victory over Valiant.

The side had managed a torrid past two months in the league, enduring a winless run that saw them drop to sixth on the log. It showed in their game too, as they seemed wary of a side that defeated them just over a month ago.

As for Coach Owolabi’s side, they seemed to still be on their Christmas break. Aside from fluffing their chances, they looked like a shadow of the side that scored three in this same fixture last year.

A dour first half was followed by a scrappy second as both sides wrestled for the breakthrough goal. Coach Shola’s men finally found the elusive goal, albeit in the 72nd minute. Second-half substitute, John Lucky, proved to be a game-changer as his goal made all the difference.

Now in fifth, and five points off the top, Sporting will be looking to jumpstart their league campaign starting with this win.l
