Six-goal Thriller as Imperial, Dino Share Points

Imperial and Dino cancelled out each other in an instant TCC League classic that saw both sides score three goals apiece..

Imperial, the hosts, made their intention known early in the game, scoring from their first real attacking move. Kelly Asomusho, in the 23rd minute, fired a left curler from outside the 18-yard area into the top right-hand corner of Toriola’s goal, putting the hosts ahead in style.

15 minutes later, Dino were made to regret their missed chances as Imperial scored a second. Kelly’s pass found Aremu David in Dino’s 18-yard area. The midfielder blasted the ball home from close range, doubling Imperial’s lead.

At this point, Coach Gibson was forced to make early substitutions, a move that eventually paid off.

In the 40th minute, Ikechukwu Friday rose highest to convert a cross from the right flank, pulling one back for the visitors, just four minutes after coming on. But the final say of the half belonged to Coach Opeyemi’s boys, as they scored a third just before the half-time whistle.

The second half began with an invigorated Dino side pushing for a second goal, which didn’t come until the 70th minute. But when Amos Adzuu tapped in from close range 20 minutes from time, that goal energized Coach Gibson’s men to push for the equalizer.

And they would get that equalizer in the 86th minute, with Daniel Effiong finishing off a counter-attacking move. It’s Dino’s sixth draw of the season – four of which have ended with a 2-2 scoreline.
