Beyond Limits pipped Imperial to top spot thanks to a 3-1 triumph over Coach Adedji’s lads.
Just a month after their away victory over the same side, Coach Olumide’s boys started the clash the better side, maximizing their home advantage. While Dikko Adebayo saw his free-kick go wide in the ninth minute, it was Kparobo Arierhi who opened the scoring in the 20th minute. The striker who has been in fine form, converted from the spot after Olamilekan was brought down in the area.
Five minutes before the first-half whistle, Imperial drew level, after winning a penalty. Unfazed, the visitors continued dominating and got their second two minutes after the restart. A well-worked phase of play saw the ball end up at an onrushing Farouq Ogundare’s feet. He wasted no time sending the ball to the far corner, to restore his side’s lead.
The hosts fought tooth and nail to draw level. But they were met with a sturdy side that reminded everyone why they are the reigning champions.
Seven minutes from time, Kparobo was again on hand to convert from close range. He sent the ball underneath the onrushing goalie this time to get his brace.
Now two points clear at the top, the reigning champions have laid down the gauntlet for the rest of the league. Without a doubt, they’re now the team to beat.
