Dannaz completed a league double over Atlantic, registering a 2-1 win.
But it wasn’t a rosy start for Coach Fatai’s team as they went behind in the 11th minute of the game. A scramble in the box was followed by an air kick by Destiny Timi before the ball would fall kindly to Peter Nwona to put the visitors in front.
Both sides spent the remainder of the half flunking half chances and giving the goalies little to worry about. The visitors could have doubled their lead during this time. They however couldn’t outwork the solid Dannaz defense, something which would go on to prove costly in the second half.
The second half began with both sides searching for a goal. It was the hosts who made the breakthrough, seven minutes from time, through second-half substitute, Adebayo Damilola. Inspired by the late equalizer, Coach Fatai encouraged his boys to go for the kill.
They heaped on the pressure and their opponents caved in the first minute of additional time. The visitors failed to clear their lines and were punished dearly for it as another sub, Ademola Samson poked the ball home from close range to steal the win. While it’s another result to forget for Coach Warri Charles, the climb is on for Coach Fatai’s boys as they move up to the ninth on the log.
