Broad City’s winless run continued over the weekend as they were held to a stalemate by Real Sapphire.
The fixture kicked off with both sides evenly matched. Real Sapphire had answers for all of Broad City’s early intensity, keeping their hosts at bay. Against the run of play, and three minutes before half-time, they struck and scored the opener.
Bidemi Olalekan’s well-worked free-kick routine found Ibrahim Adamu in the 18-yard area. Without a marker, he side-footed the ball past Isaac Okeoghene to break the deadlock.
The second half came and the visitors switched into defensive mode. Not only did they keep Broad City at bay, they kept them far from their goal, minimizing their threat. They however lost concentration on the stroke of 90 minutes, allowing Adesanu Ahmed’s ball to evade everyone in the box on its way into the net.
With that goal, Real Sapphire slumped to sixth on the log while Broad City remained fourth. Despite scoring an average of two goals in their last four games, Broad City have neither won nor lost any. That’s a worrying trend for Coach Ogunmoyero.
