Dino SC 8 - 1 Iganmu FC

19th December, 2023

Un-forg-EIGHT-able Christmas for Dino as they record league’s biggest win

Instead of a first win of the season, Iganmu got a whitewash at the hands of Dino, letting eight goals in.

Without a win in their previous two, Dino got to business straightaway, and got their first in the 14th minute. Samuel Umoh beat Iganmu’s offside trap and tapped the ball past Sunday Elijah in goal.

Six minutes later, and after missing a big chance, Samuel was at it again, getting his brace. Again, it was the striker getting the better of Iganmu’s high defensive line, entering into a one-on-one situation with the goalie and winning the contest.

Despite an early change of goalkeepers because of Elijah’s injury to the face, Stephen Ende’s and Christain Nwachukwu’s goals ensured the hosts went into the break four goals to the good.

Dino entered the second half like the losing team, eager to make up for the big chances they failed to convert in the first half. 10 minutes in, Samuel completed his hat-trick, after a failed Iganmu clearance in the box.

Then it was Ogonna Okoro’s turn to finally get in on the action after all his failed attempts to score in the first 45. Chidubem Diji, a second-half substitute, got Dino’s seventh after Iganmu were caught napping in a free-kick situation. Another substitute, James Okpe, rounded off the scoring for Dino as the hosts put on a show.

Coach Gibson’s men took their foot off the pedal with minutes to go, allowing Oluwatobi Ajuse to get one for Escola. Dino enter the break with a return to winning ways while there’s plenty to ponder upon during the holidays for Coach Ebenexer Nwankwo.
