Imperial came from behind to defeat newcomers, VOE FA, and register a first win of the season.
The visitors started the game on a high note, creating multiple chances in the first five minutes. They however failed to make the most of those opportunities, leaving room for VOE to take the lead.
In the 7th minute, Abdulraheem Taiwo got VOE’s first-ever TCC League goal after rounding the goalkeeper and slotting into an empty net.
Coach Opeyemi’s lads had to wait till the 61st minute to get on the scoresheet. A cross from the left side of the pitch was inadvertently kicked into VOE’s goal, drawing Imperial level. They pushed for a winner and got it in the 79th minute through Chibueze Ozoemena.
The second-half substitute raced past his marker before releasing a shot too hot for Olaoye Olayinka to handle. His was the last goal of the game as Imperial overturned an early deficit to grab all three points.
It’s not the TCC welcome they were hoping for. But VOE will be hoping for a better result on MatchDay 2
