Sporting Lagos got off to a comfortable start to the season as they put four past Dannaz.
What started as a relatively quiet game roared to life in the 23rd minute as John Lucky broke the deadlock.
The striker raced into space after a mix-up in the Dannaz defense. One-on-one with the goalkeeper, he tucked the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal to put the hosts in front.
Nine minutes later, Coach Shola’s lads doubled their lead as Zika Linus also got his name on the scoresheet. Some attempts after, John Lucky scored his second goal of the game, with his brace coming in the 59th minute. Ojediran Fuad rounded up the goals nine minutes from time to extend Sporting’s lead and push them all the way into first place.
The defeat sees the Cedars slide into bottom place, leaving Coach Bashiru with plenty to ponder going into MatchDay 2.
