Real Sapphire Humble Broad City in Opening Day Victory
Broad City’s late goal came too late as Real Sapphire went on to secure their first win of the season.
With a new coach – Daniel Brugni – in charge, the hosts began the game with intent. But they were evenly matched by the visitors, who seemed prepared for whatever tricks their opponents had up their sleeves.
A goalless opening 45 transitioned into a goal-littered 2nd half as Real Sapphire came alive. Two quick goals in the first five minutes – Onwe Chiagozie (46’) and Ayomide Junaid (50’) put the hosts in front and firmly in control of the game. They maintained a firm hold on their lead for most of the game, seeing out the win despite conceding a late goal (scored by Christopher Jeremiah).
