Real Sapphire Clip Eagles’ Wings in League Opener

Real Sapphire put two goals past Gbagada as they strolled to a comfortable win.

The game however started on a quiet note, with chances few and far between. Both sides failed to find anything noteworthy going forward, until the 32nd minute when Real Sapphire broke the deadlock.

With a failed defensive clearance by the Blue Eagles, the ball fell to an unmarked Joshua Ibrahim. The striker wasted no time as scored from close range to put his side in the lead. Two minutes later, Coach Akinyelu’s men could have pulled level. But Paul’s header was cleared off the line to maintain Real Sapphire’s lead.

11 minutes into the second half, Joshua doubled his tally as Real Sapphire asserted their dominance in the game. Gbagada failed to muster a worthy response as they slipped to a first defeat of the season.

While Real Sapphire head into MatchDay 2 in high spirits, there’s a lot for Gbagada to unpack.
