Broad City left it late at Dino to steal a point in an exciting game.
Both sides left no stone unturned as they attacked each other with reckless abandon. It was, however, the hosts who broke the deadlock in the 15th minute. Ikechukwu Henry’s left-footed volley from 25 yards out rattled against the bar before bouncing past the line into the goal.
Talk about an early goal-of-the-season contender.
One could have become three goals for the hosts before halftime. But Coach Godwin’s men were profligate in front of goal, throwing away multiple chances before halftime.
Broad City smelled blood and struck three minutes into the second half, drawing level.
The ball fell to Hanif Sanusi in the 18-yard area after an aerial tussle. The striker hit a half-volley shot that blitzed past David Ede into the top right-hand corner.
Aura for Aura? Both goals are already contenders for the Goal of the Season award.
Samuel Asogbon’s 62nd-minute goal came from the spot as the hosts regained the lead. But they were denied maximum points as Broad City won and converted a penalty in stoppage time to draw level.
The missed chances by both sides left many questions to be answered. Both managers will be hoping to find quick answers as the season progresses.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Hassan Agbede (Dino)
The attacking midfielder’s passes carved open Broad City’s defense at will. A commanding display from the youngster.
