Coach Shola Adegun earmarked defensive counter-pressures and a desire to continue to improve after Sporting Lagos won on Matchday 1. The Lagosians smacked Valiant 4-0 on the road on Matchday 2 last season, and while a new Sherrif is in town, they would want to keep building.
Real Sapphire secured a draw in their opening TCC League match away to Valiant and were overtly convincing while doing so. They created chances and looked the part. However, they would need to work on their finishing if they want to have any chance. They ought to be more worried given the record of their first guests, who are notoriously great travellers.
STAT ATTACK
6 – Sporting Lagos won six games away from home last season, the most of any TCC team. They picked up 20 of a possible 27 points, losing just once.
MAN TO WATCH
Abdullahi Yusuf (Sporting Lagos)
A handful, the forward can pick pockets of space with relative ease if the defence isn’t on guard.
