Gbagada FC returned back to winning ways after their 2-1 win over Ijebu United in MatchDay 6 of The Creative Championships League.
The Blue Eagles, looking to start their year on a high went ahead in the game thanks to a sweet strike from Oyeniyi Hammed in the 10th minute. The player who received the ball on the right after some sweet exchange of passes by his teammates around the opponent’s 18-year area, put the ball past the goalkeeper, beating him at the near post
Perfect way to start for a side hunting for a first win in the league since November.
It was all vibes and cruise for Coach Akinyelu’s men until Owopetu Joshua was given his marching orders after a second yellow card was awarded to him. Abdulrahman Suleiman stepped up to the plate and converted the spot kick.
Both teams went into the break sharing the spoils.
In the second half, Gbagada FC goalkeeper, Olootu Alaba, was called into action a few times, and proved his worth after making a fine string of saves.
All these would pay off when Captain Fagbayi Semiu, while contesting for an aerial ball inside Ijebu United’s 18-yard area, flicked the ball into the path of Ibrahim Ismaila, who put the ball past his own goalkeeper.
Despite being a man down, Gbagada FC held off all advances from Ijebu United and took away all three points from the game.
