Iganmu FC vs Imperial FC

Saturday 9th January, 2021

Venue: Agege Stadium

Full-time: Iganmu FC 3 -3 Imperial FC

The first TCC League game of 2021 served a spectacle at the Agege Stadium. The sides didn’t show any signs of rustiness or hangover, having last played a game two and a half weeks ago.

Both clubs ended 2020 with identical 3-1 defeats and it became imperative for them to start the new year on a high. And it was Imperial who took the initiative by storming to an early lead through Adeoye Jeremiah’s well taken goal in the opening minute of the encounter.

Iganmu settled into the game, and were deservedly level through John Fidelix’s cool finish. The left-footer left the defenders and the goalkeeper for dead, before slotting past a crowded goal area for the equaliser.

At the half-hour mark, Jeremiah completed his brace after some good work by Chidera Ezeno to set him up. That lead they took into the halftime break, as they led into the interval for the first time in the TCC League.

Upon the return of hostilities, Kazeem Abioye’s Lions swung into action and were handed a chance to go level from the penalty spot after Saka Lukman was brought down in the box. Skipper Kola Mohammed sent the goalie the wrong way to level the game.

A minute after the hour, the home side got another spot kick after some horrible decision making from the visitor’s goalkeeper. This time, substitute Samuel Abel dispatched with ease to hand his side the lead for the first time in the game.

That wouldn’t be the last action of the game, as the pressure from the visitors in the final five minutes earned them a penalty of their own and Ezeno kept his cool to hand his side their first point since the opening day.

Iganmu are struggling to win games while Imperial FC remain winless in the #TCCLeague after six rounds of games.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Iganmu’s Olumide Olufemi was a monster in the middle of the park. He was ably present to dictate play and launch various attacks for his side during the game. His exquisite passing and enviable vision were a joy to watch at the Agege Stadium.
