TCCL team of the week selection of Matchweek 8

27th January, 2021

Goalkeeper

Lamidi Yusuf (Imperial)

Lamidi stood tall between the sticks for his side against Gbagada FC. He thwarted many goal bound efforts from the opposition’s attackers and his sensational display earned him the MOTM award for the game and a place in the TOTW.

Defenders

Oluwaseun Odunsi (Remo)

The versatile player played at right back for this game against Ijebu United and was solid as usual.

Owopetu Joshua (Gbagada)

Joshua held his own against Imperial. Though his side lost, his performance on the day was worthy of recognition, hence a place in the TOTW for him.

Timothy Okon Edet (Dino)

Dino may have failed to keep a clean sheet, but they did enough to stop the fearsome attack of Valiant valiantly. Timothy was at the heart of it and his displays also earned him the MOTM for that match.

Peter Aondaakaa (Imperial)

Solid in defence and deadly in attack tell of what Peter did on Sunday against Gbagada. He stood his ground against Oyeniyi Hammed and somehow found himself at the other end to net the winner.

Midfielders

Gbenga Omolaja (Gbagada)

Some players are gracious in defeat, and Omolaja is one of them. Bar the scoreline, he was one of the most influential players on the pitch, showing grit and determination and been quick in the tackle. When Imperial face Gbagada again, Omolaja’s mission would be to exact a measure of vengeance

Adebayo Lateef (Iganmu)

Few midfielders have possessed his guile. He was once again measured in his approach showing why he was the conduit via which the team operated.

Olateju Jonathan (Emmydinho)

Jonathan is a schemer, and it is no coincidence this week he makes the squad, he brings a great degree of calm, and knows exactly when to flip the switch.

Forward

Ezeno Chidera ( Imperial)

Immense in attack, a constant threat when it mattered the most. Chidera will go down in the history books as helping his side to their first-ever win of the TCC League.

Dada Oladimeji (Remo Stars U19)

After his side had struggled to break down Ijebu United’s sturdy defense, he stepped up to the plate and scored. His goal ensured that Remo Stars U19 avoided a second home defeat in the Creative Championship League.

David Izuchukwu (Iganmu)

After seeing his side fall behind by two early goals, David’s goal kick-started his side’s comeback in the game. He was also instrumental in helping his side avoid defeat.

Manager

Abdulwahab Abdulfatai (Imperial)

Against all odds, his side went to Gbagada FC and picked up their first win of the campaign. A big moment for him and his young lads and he has been rewarded for that feat.
