TCCCup (Quarter Final 1st Leg) TOTW

5th February, 2021

Team of the Week (Cup Week)

Goalkeeper

Adebowale Dolapo (Remo)

Delano had a fun-filled day in goal for Remo U19. They thumped Emmydinho 5-0 and he was a resistance in goal, as he picked up a clean sheet in one of his rare starts for the Junior Sky Blues.

Defenders

RB – Olawoyin Wasiu (Gbagada)

Wasiu held his own against the youthful Imperial side. Highly conservative, diligent in and out of possession and was a constant option down the right for the Blue Eagles in the first leg win in Ikenne.

CB- Kareem Peter (Imperial)

Kareem’s qualities and display weren’t unnoticed. He did his bit despite his side suffering a home loss.

CB- Muktar Mohammed (Valiant)

The big-frame centre-back put in a MOTM performance in Agege against Iganmu FC. He marshalled the backline with authority and class, which resulted in the Brave boys’ first clean sheet in any TCC game this season.

LB – Samuel Asogbon (Dino)

The enterprising full-back was superb against Ijebu United. His runs down the left, were crucial to his side’s play and could have ended with an away win in the first leg encounter.

Midfielders

Nwoke Favour (Valiant)

On a day they served up an attacking masterclass, Favour was the counterbalance that ensured the clean sheet, breaking up play and overseeing the start of the attacks. A well deserved inclusion.

Oscar Bless (Dino)

A well struck penalty, and a performance filled with breaking the lines and arrivals in the final third. Oscar played exactly like his famous Brazilian namesake in his pomp.

Ugochukwu Iwala (Ijebu United)

For all of Ijebu United’s seeming goal-shyness, it wasn’t for the want of chance creation, with Ugochukwu doing everything to put his side in a good position to score. He was by far the best on the pitch for his team, with his teammates ruing the missed chances subsequently.

Forward

Fagbayi Semiu (Gbagada FC)

Relentless. Diligent. Fagbayi Semiu has been a shining light for his side so far this season. He again shone in their cup game against Imperial FC.

Akinsola Babajide (Valiant)

Scoring half of the goals his side managed over the weekend, the center-forward makes an appearance, again, in a Team of the Week. He was more than enough for Iganmu to handle.

Dada Oladimeji (Remo)

Only a few players get to score a hattrick of goals in their career. Only a handful achieve that feat in the first half of a football game. For Oladimeji, his 19-minute hattrick in this first leg clash, rightfully so, earned him the Man of the Match award, and his spot in the Team of the Week

Manager

Akinyelu Olajide (Gbagada)

His side avenged the defeat suffered in the league to the Ogun state side. They were the only side to have won away from home in the cup’s first legs.
