REPORT: MD8 – Broad City 1 – 0 Iganmu

Broad City Breaks the Duck with Slim Win

It was victory at last for Broad City as they first win of the season after defeating Iganmu 1-0.

The contest began as a quiet affair, with both sides evenly matched, creating almost no chances at all. The goalkeepers were mostly spectators as the midfielders – of both sides – struggled to find their marksmen upfront while the defenders came out on top.

20 minutes in, the chances began to trickle. First, it was the visitors firing one over the bar. Then Rilwan Olaitan failed to make the most of a half-chance, firing his attempt over the bar as well. The spike in game intensity foreshadowed the pivotal moment in the game as Broad City went ahead in the 33rd minute, thanks to Chidibem Ohaegbulem.

In the 2nd half, it was about the race to score the second goal of the game. However, while both sides ramped up the sense of urgency around their play, there’d be no other goal as Broad City ran out winners. It’s a crucial win for God’s Own Team, a result that sends them up to 9th on log, overtaking Iganmu.
