REPORT: MD7 – Imperial 1 – 1 Gbagada

Static at the Top as Top-of-the-table Clash Ends in a Draw

Log leaders, Imperial, maintained their two-point lead at the top after their 1-1 draw against Gbagada.

The heavyweight clash saw two of the championship’s three remaining unbeaten sides go head-to-head for a chance to lead the standings. 14 minutes in, and it was Imperial who drew first blood, thanks to Adnam Muhamad Usman. He was on hand to make the most of the rebound, tucking home from close range.

Five minutes from time, the Blue Eagles opened their account through Idowu Adebayo. But his attempt was ruled offside. On the half-hour mark however, Coach Akinyelu’s boys scored again. And this time, Itunu Olushola’s attempt, a half volley, was good enough to draw the visitors level just before the break.

The 2nd 45 featured a dogged defensive display from both sides as they refused to give in. They stuck to their guns defensively and gave very little away. As a result, the spoils were shared as both sides went home with a point each. Not a bad result, considering Imperial remains at the top and Gbagada stays two points behind the log leaders.
