Super Subs Shine in Sporting Lagos – VOE FA Stalemate

A stoppage equalizer was enough to extend VOE FA’s winless run for another MatchDay as the visitors settled for a point.

Up against Sporting Lagos FA, the contest kicked off as a quiet affair, with the first real attemtp not coming until the 26th minute. Mansur however could not keep his effort on target as both sides cancelled out each other. The hosts finally registered a shot on target three minutes later. But there wasn’t enough power behind James’ shot to get it past the goalkeeper.

The 2nd 45 began the same way the first ended: quiet, and with very little chances created. The hosts, on the front foot, broke through the VOE FA defense again in the 62nd minute. But this time, they were denied by the offside flag, another episode in a game that saw both sides struggle.

VOE FA, against the run of play, found the breakthrough five minutes from time. Suliaman Saoban, who came on in the 54th minute, finished off a counter-attacking move after a Sporting Lagos FA defender gave away ball possession. That lead however lasted only eight minutes.

Another substitute, Abeeb Egbedokun, spared his side’s blushes with his late goal, lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper to draw his side level. The late equalizer was enough to maintain Sporting Lagos’ unbeaten start to the season but dealt another blow to VOE FA’s hopes of kick-starting their campaign with a win.
