REPORT: MD5 – Beyond Limits 1 – 1 Sporting Lagos FA

No Victor, No Vanquished in Clash of the Unbeaten Ones

Beyond Limits were held to a 1-1 draw by Sporting Lagos in their second stalemate of the season.

It took the hosts only nine minutes to threaten their visitors’ defense. But Memud Ahmed’s effort flashed across the face of goal as the hosts made their intentions known early. There’d be no mistakes in the 20th minute, however, as Ogili Chimezie headed home at the back post to put Beyond Limits in front.

That lead lasted only 15 minutes as Sporting Lagos found a way back into the game in the 35th minute. After Adabo saw his chance saved by the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute, James Verneil saw his cross from the right tapped in from a difficult angle by Abdullahi Aminu. They pushed for a second before half-time but were thwarted by a goal-line clearance.

The break did nothing to slow down the pace of the game as both sides continued to create chances in the 2nd half. But each one was met with a line of resolute defenders and goalkeepers determined to not concede a second. In the end, both sides settled for a share of the spoils, maintaining their unbeaten start to the campaign.
