REPORT: MD4 – Sporting Lagos FA 3 – 0 Broad City

Broad City Narrowed in Defeat to Sporting Lagos

Sporting Lagos brushed Broad City aside, scoring three unreplied goals and registering back-to-back victories against a struggling opponent.

Broad City, looking for a first win of the season, came into the game looking to dominate proceedings. They were however met by a home team resolute in its desire to win the contest. Coach Daniel’s boys tested the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute in their search for an early opener. Emmanuel Obi was however up to the task, holding the fort until the half-time whistle.

12 minutes into the 2nd half, he was again called to action. Faruk’s long range effort seemed destined to be a goal until Emmanuel did just enough to turn it away for a corner. But he could do nothing about the opener in the 62nd minute. Solomon Adabo broke the deadlock with a wicked curler after a brilliant pass from Faruk Abdulrasheed.

Broad City struggled to respond to their hosts, coming up short when it mattered the most. The struggles in front of goal were evident and their missed chances came back to hunt them as Sporting Lagos would score two late goals. In the 90th minute, Faisal Salisu extended Sporting Lagos’ lead, before bagging his brace in the second minute of stoppage time.

Sporting Lagos have now kept a third consecutive clean sheet, climbing up to third on the log. Broad City are on the opposite end of the table, ranked 11th, and still without a win.
