Real Sapphire Outshine VOE FA in Five-Goal Thriller

Real Sapphire defeated VOE FA 3-2 to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Coach Daniel’s boys got off to the best start possible, breaking the deadlock after nine minutes of play. Goalkeeper Kazeem Basit’s short pass was intercepted by James Prosper who fired the ball into an empty net. In the 35th minute, Orinya’s header from a tight angle, bounced into the net to pull VOE level.

The hosts however regained their lead four minutes later. Another header, this time from Xavier, found the back of the net to restore Real Sapphire’s lead. In the 45th minute, both teams traded goals yet again in the ding-dong battle. This time, it was Shogbaike Oluwasegun who pulled VOE FA level yet again.

But, it was Real Sapphire who would have the final say, scoring the fifth goal of the game in the 49th minute. Another VOE defensive mix-up caused the ball to fall kindly to Chigozie’s feet. He wasted no time poking the ball into an empty net to restore his side’s lead. They would hold on to that lead to secure a second victory of the season. An impressive start for Coach Daniel. For Coach Ogu, these are trying times as his side has now suffered a third defeat in a row.
