Atlantic Business Defeat Wasteful Beyond Limits to Clinch TCC Super Cup
Atlantic Business edged Beyond Limits 1-0 in the TCC Super Cup to register their names in the record books.
Both sides, lively, came into the game with clear instructions from their managers on what to do. While they both found their rhythm early in the game, both sides cancelled each other out. A brilliant Atlantic Business clearance in the 9th minute was followed by an 18th-minute chance for Chinonso Oyengbulam. But a double save from the goalkeeper kept the scoreline goalless.
In the 43rd minute, it was Solomon Dominic’s turn to keep his side in the game. His quick dive to his low left to parry Peter Oyeniran’s shot two minutes from half-time was enough to shut Beyond Limits out. The rest of the half would drag on without a goal as both sides failed to find the breakthrough.
Both sides had great chances to break the deadlock in the first 10 minutes of the second half. But the game remained goalless until the 59th minute. Bolaji Abdul Rahman was in the right place at the right time to poke the ball home from a set-piece situation.
Despite falling behind, Beyond Limits continued to ask questions of their opponents. But players like Memud Olamilekan and Abiodun Oladosu forgot their scoring boots at home as they fluffed the numerous chances that came their way. Coach Japhet’s side would hold on till the end to become the second-ever side to win the TCC Super Cup.
