Dino hit a new low in the 2022/2023 TCC season. Not only did they finish in sixth. They also
failed to defend the cup title they had won the previous season.
Beyond getting one over Beyond Limits, Coach Gibson entered the 2023/2024 season with the central aim of returning Dino to its glory days. And they began the season in style, winning their first four games and keeping three clean sheets. By the end of October, they were top of the table, leading their closest competitor, Broad City, with two points.
Broad City threw a spanner in the works on the first weekend of November, defeating Dino 2-1. Coach Gibson’s men would fail to defeat Valiant and Sporting Lagos at home before recording a slim win over Real Sapphire. Beyond Limits were their first opponents as December came around. The Remo-based side was in no festive mood as they put Dino in their place with a resounding 4-1 victory. Dino rallied from a goal down in their next game as they stole precious points from Gbagada before rounding up the first half of their campaign with an emphatic 8-1 triumph over Iganmu.
There was time for one more game before Christmas as Dino continued their TCC Cup
campaign. They would finish the year bottom of their group, with a draw and a defeat to
Gbagada. 2024 started the same way 2023 ended: With TCC Cup games. For Dino, it was a
chance to redeem themselves and get their first win of the campaign. They did so in style, putting five past Dannaz.
Their rollercoaster of a season continued through January as they failed to win two games in a row. February came with TCC Cup quarter-final qualification and another loss to Beyond Limits. But they bounced back just before the end of the month, managing successive wins against Real Sapphire, Sporting Lagos, and Valiant, with all wins coming away from home.
Consecutive losses to Broad City and Imperial saw them slip in the title race. But that didn’t
deter them from finishing strong: They scored 19 goals in their last three games of the season. And while they couldn’t go past the quarter-finals in the cup, they became the first side to score at least seven goals in three league games in a season.
