Remo Stars started the game the livelier of the two sides, making dangerous runs behind the Gbagada defense. Their first shot on target came in the 13th minute, which was saved by the Gbagada goalkeeper, Ramon Kabiru.
In the 16th minute, Gbagada FC besieged Remo Stars’ 18-yard area, with a number of shots. However, all were blocked by Remo’s sturdy defense.
Gbagada’s Peter Edema, in the 20th minute of the game, latched onto a cross from Fabgayi Semiu, putting the ball past the goalkeeper.
In the 32nd minute, Gbagada FC’s Semiu Fagbayi started an attacking move down the left flank, which forced Remo Stars No. 1 into making a triple save.
The action continued in the 35th minute when Remo Stars’ Ogundana Shola failed to convert after finding himself in a one-on-one situation with Ramon Kabiru, whose flailing prevented the forward man from getting the equalizer.
Remo Stars U19 started the second half as they did the first, losing a number of key chances in the opening 10 minutes of the half.
Their fortunes would however change for the better in the 65th minute when Omoloja Gbenga was ruled to have handled the ball in the Gbagada 18-yard area.
Oladimeji Dada would step up to the spot and convert the spot kick. The same player would be called upon again to convert another penalty which was awarded to his side by the centre referee, to the dismay of Gbagada FC coach, Akinyelu Olajide.
What started out as a slow start for the home side turned into a comeback win, their second in The Creative Championship so far.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Odunsi Oluwaseun was the standout performer in this fixture. From dictating the pace of the game, to threading key passes to various angles of the pitch, the No. 8 player was the go-to man for Remo Stars U19.
