The fixture started out in slow fashion, with both sides struggling to make goal attempts or even register touches in the opposition’s 18-yard area. They spent the entirety of the first half dragging their attempts wide, misplacing passes, and battling to win ball possession in the midfield.
The second half started in stark contrast to what the first half had been, as Dino opened the scoring in the 49th minute.
A long ball from Goalkeeper David was flicked into Chiduben Diji’s path with a header by Amos Adzuu. The winger paced himself and whacked the ball into the top right-hand corner of the goal to gift Dino the lead.
The visitors doubled their lead three minutes after their first with a sublimed free-kick by Ogonna Okoro. The winger, who got a double for Dino a week ago, chose to shoot the ball through, rather than over, the wall of Dannaz defenders in front of him. Caught off-guard, Olusesi scrambled to his left to avert the threat but to no avail.
Dannaz’s struggles up front were detailed as they struggled to create clear-cut chances. Dino’s free-flowing style of play made them more threatening, as they passed the ball around fluidly and looked the more likely side to score the game’s third.
And they did, this time in the 75th minute. Dannaz conceded a free-kick at the edge of their area after wrongly stopping Dino’s quick counter-attack. The resulting free-kick found an unmarked Christain Nwachukwu who fired home from close range.
For the second game in a row, Dino have now scored three in a league game. While Coach Godwin couldn’t have asked for a better start, Coach Adewunmi will wonder what needs to be done to get his first goal and first win of the season.
